For a while, the light above illuminates
I could see your shadow below, which overlaps with mine
But now, without your light, I can feel the weight
Of the crushing loneliness that no one can unwind
Below the sky that lives the Gemini
Where the Phoenix plays the Lyra
I do not want to say goodbye
Or live in a world of grey
I would give up everything else
And build a bridge of stars to reach you
I see the Pegasus that flies so high
Below him swim the Pisces
Still hoping you can hear my cry
That's carried by the breeze
I would give up everything else
And build a bridge of stars to reach you
Along with the wind, everything's so far away
If I had you here with me, we could relive those days
For a while, the light above illuminates
I could see your shadow below, which overlaps with mine
You told me that nothing lasts forever
Only the stars so far above
What if our love could reach the sky
Would our hearts always be together?

To me, "Trip The Life Fantastic" was a must-buy on "Bandcamp Friday" this time. It's one of the few "Drifting Sun" albums not already found in my collection, and an essential one, because it marks the beginning of the prolific collaboration of composer/keyboardist Pat Sanders and lyricist/singer Peter Falconer, which was, in my opinion, the best creative pairing the band ever had. Discovering this album has been one of the surprises of 2021, not least because I can't believe I hadn't found it before. It has echoes of some of the finest prog rock bands from the 1970s, with superb instrumentation and arrangements, and vocal harmonies that would be the envy of many a musician. followjohnreed
