Still cannot forget you now
What will I do today?
Stretching out my hand to you
Only the cold wind passes by
Waking up to a new day
But everything is still the same
Looking at myself again
But I can't see the other half
Everything that I do today
Is just the same as yesterday
Picking up another book
Only to think of you again
Where is the other half of me?
Can you hear my voice?
If I reach out towards the sky
Would you hold my hand?
Think of it as just a dream
I was never there at all
Close your eyes and think of me
I will still be there for you
Don't be sad when you're awake
As the stars still shine above
Move on with your life
Shed no tears, my dear
Walking around the town
Finding the traces of you
Still cannot forget you now
What will I do today again?
To me, "Trip The Life Fantastic" was a must-buy on "Bandcamp Friday" this time. It's one of the few "Drifting Sun" albums not already found in my collection, and an essential one, because it marks the beginning of the prolific collaboration of composer/keyboardist Pat Sanders and lyricist/singer Peter Falconer, which was, in my opinion, the best creative pairing the band ever had. Discovering this album has been one of the surprises of 2021, not least because I can't believe I hadn't found it before. It has echoes of some of the finest prog rock bands from the 1970s, with superb instrumentation and arrangements, and vocal harmonies that would be the envy of many a musician. followjohnreed
